What changes here
Baton Rouge has the oldest continuously lived-in housing stock we work on, and the age of it changes almost everything about how a repaint should be approached here. Spanish Town dates to 1805. Beauregard Town followed in 1806, and most of Mid City went up between 1910 and 1955.
Older stock
Old siding, old millwork and old paint mean most of the day goes into preparation. On an older frontage the finish is only ever as good as what was scraped, filled and primed underneath it.

On the ground
Where we work, and why the age of the stock matters so much here.
Founded 1805, the oldest neighborhood in the city, between the river and I-110. Historic houses and a lot of hand work.
Founded 1806, on both sides of Government Street, laid out on European diagonal streets. Second oldest in the city.
Where Park Boulevard meets Government Street. Established, upscale, and detail heavy.
Capital Heights, Bernard Terrace and Ogden Park. Craftsman bungalows, shotguns and cottages on small tree-lined lots.
Conditions
Four things that change the work here, and what each one means for the schedule and the price.
Mid City stock is mostly built 1910 to 1955. Original wood siding and trim that has been coated and recoated for the better part of a century needs scraping back to sound material, spot priming, and in places a carpenter, before a finish coat is worth putting on it at all. That is the real work.
Mature street trees keep elevations damp long after the rain has passed and the street itself has dried out. On a small lot, the shaded wall can be most of the house.
Spanish Town and Beauregard Town are historic neighborhoods, and older districts often carry expectations about exterior work. Worth a check before colors get chosen.
Humid subtropical, with high summer dew points, and the same application rule holds here as it does downriver. The surface clears the margin or the coating waits.
What we run here
Interior and exterior, in all twelve. Inside walls and outside surfaces run out of the same shop, so the crew that quotes your kitchen is the crew that quotes your siding.
