The job here

What interior painting in LaPlace actually involves

An interior in LaPlace has the same underlying issue the exterior does: air that carries a lot of moisture, from two directions, for much of the year.

Walls, ceiling and trim, finished room by room

Rooms that sit closed through the summer hold considerably more than owners expect, and it shows on north-facing walls and inside closets first, as a coating that will not hold, not as anything that looks like visible damp. So the first thing we do is look for the cause.

Where a property has taken water at any point, that changes what we look at again. Paint over a wall whose substrate is still carrying moisture is a cosmetic fix with a short life, and we would rather establish it before quoting than after starting.

The rest is careful ordinary work. Cracks and nail pops filled and sanded flat, patches primed before color, cut-ins by hand, hardware off instead of being cut around, and the room put back together before the crew leaves each evening.

Where a house was raised or repaired after flooding, the junctions are what we look at: where new material meets old, where a wall meets a floor that has been replaced, and anywhere a repair was made quickly under pressure and finished properly later. Those are the places a coating tends to let go first, and they are worth naming in the estimate instead of discovering with a brush already in hand.

Color is worth sampling in the room. Light on this strip is bright and flat.

On the ground

Where we do this work in LaPlace

Belle Terre

The Belle Terre Boulevard corridor off I-10 and the residential streets either side of it, where rooms closed through the summer hold more moisture than owners expect and it shows in closets first.

Around Cambridge Drive

The civic side of town with the surrounding residential grid. Where a property has taken water at any point, the junctions between new material and old are what we look at before anything is coated.

Why the quote says two

A coat and a job are different things

Painting a house here is a different job from painting one in a dry climate. Humidity changes how long a coat stays open, and it decides how much film you need on a wall before the weather starts taking it back.

First coat

Bond and coverage

The first coat is doing a different job from the second. It bonds to what is underneath and it tells us where the substrate is still drinking, which is information you only get once paint is actually on the wall.

Second coat

Color and film build

The second coat is where the color goes true and the film reaches the thickness printed on the tin. One coat over a sound wall looks fine from the driveway and looks thin on the north side by spring.

There is mildew in my closet. What now?

Treatment and then the cause. Closets are the least ventilated part of a house in a climate that is already humid, so it is usually a ventilation question before it is a paint question.

Does flood history affect interior work?

It can, if the substrate is still holding moisture. We check instead of assuming, because coating over it traps the water and the finish fails from behind.

Can you match the paint color already on the walls?

Yes. For most projects our paint specialists can match almost any color on your home from a chip or a wet sample. If an exact match is not possible we will talk you through the next best option.

How often should I paint?

It varies by material and exposure. Stucco every 5 to 6 years. Painted brick 15 to 20 years. Aluminum siding every 5 to 6 years. A wall that takes afternoon sun will always come due first.

Do I need to move furniture before the crew arrives?

No. Our team covers and protects furniture and floors. If a piece is delicate or awkward to move, it is worth taking it out of the room beforehand.

Is the second coat included in the price you quote?

Yes. Every estimate is written for two coats over prepared surface, and the number you get is the number for the finished job. If a surface genuinely only needs one, we say so and the quote comes down instead of staying where it was.
