Why the quote says two

A coat and a job are different things

Painting a house here is a different job from painting one in a dry climate. Humidity changes how long a coat stays open, and it decides how much film you need on a wall before the weather starts taking it back.

First coatLiving room finished in a warm tone against exposed brick, with daylight across the floor

Bond and coverage

The first coat is doing a different job from the second. It bonds to what is underneath and it tells us where the substrate is still drinking, which is information you only get once paint is actually on the wall.

Second coatBedroom finished in a blue gray with white built in shelving and a desk

Color and film build

The second coat is where the color goes true and the film reaches the thickness printed on the tin. One coat over a sound wall looks fine from the driveway and looks thin on the north side by spring.

What we paint

Exterior and interior, by the same crew

Single story house in a dark finish seen from the lawn

Exterior

A fresh coat lifts the look of a house and protects it from weather damage, insects and rotting wood. On the Gulf coast the protection is the part that pays for itself.

  • Decks and fences
  • Pressure washing

Interior

Interior painting gives a room back its light. We cut in by hand, cover everything that stays, and leave the space cleaner than we found it.

Residential

Work on the house you live in

Your home is the reason the finish has to last. Our residential work covers the surfaces that take the most weather and the most wear.

Cabinet Painting

A new kitchen look without replacing a single door. We degrease, sand and spray for a finish that survives daily use.

Deck Staining and Painting

Stains and coatings picked for wood that sits in full sun and heavy rain, so the boards stop drinking water.

Exterior Home Painting

Curb appeal is the reason people call. Weather protection is the reason it matters here.

Pressure Washing

Dirt, grime and mildew come off before any paint goes on. It is also a service on its own, for storefronts, walkways and parking structures cleaned on a set schedule.

Color

Getting the color right before the first can opens

Gulf light shifts a color between the store and the wall. We put samples up on the elevation they are going on, and look at them at the hour you will actually be seeing the room.

  • Ochre
  • Deep green

Samples go up on the elevation they are going on, and we look at them at the hour you will actually be in the room. The color you approve is the color that gets ordered.

Room by room

Every room takes a different finish

Sheen is a durability decision before it is a look. A hallway takes knocks a bedroom never will, and a bathroom has to shed moisture off the film.

Bathrooms

Hallways

The highest traffic surface in the house, so it gets the most scrubbable film we carry.

Kids rooms

Low odor, low VOC products, and a schedule that lets the room be slept in the same week.

Service areas

Where we work

The New Orleans metro, across the lake on the north shore, and up the river as far as Baton Rouge. If your street is not on the list, call and ask.

2 towns

Shade keeps moisture on a wall long after the sun has moved off it. Under a heavy oak canopy the recoat window stretches out, and the shaded elevation is the one that sets the schedule for the whole house.

5 towns

A canal, a levee or a lakefront behind the house holds humidity at ground level. Two ends of one street can be ready to coat at different hours, so the order of the day matters more than the size of the crew.

5 towns

Old siding, old millwork and old paint mean most of the day goes into preparation. On an older frontage the finish is only ever as good as what was scraped, filled and primed underneath it.

Not on the list? Most of the metro is still a short run for us. Call and ask, and the estimate is free either way.
